In April last year one of our Support Staff, Carol, was unexpectedly called out of work and diagnosed with Leukaemia. Carol underwent a lengthy treatment plan at Monklands Hospital and we are so grateful for the support and care that she received there. Carol and her family were also supported by Leukaemia UK, a wonderful charity that provides a support network and advice to those fighting Leukaemia.
The fundraising they undertake provides vital funds into the research of new and kinder treatments for those that are diagnosed with Leukaemia. They helped fund a new and amazing bone marrow transplant procedure which didn't even exist just a few years ago. Without this new procedure Carol's treatment and outcome could have been very different.
As a department we are so grateful that Carol is now back with us and received such amazing care. We would like to say thank you to the charity that made such a difference to her life at the most difficult time imaginable.
We will be walking the equivalent of Lands End to John O'Groats (970km as the crow flies) throughout the month of March. Please sponsor the pupils and staff of the ASN department as we undertake this mammoth challenge.
Some of the activities we will do are:
1. Each pupil will walk 2km per period of Lifeskills
2. Each S6 student will walk 1km per school day
3. The staff will walk a 10km after work on Friday 7th March
4. The WHOLE DEPARTMENT will walk 6.4km, round Strathclyde Park
Please get behind this amazing cause and sponsor whatever you can - every little helps!
Thank you
The HGS ASN Department
