We as a family ‘The Brown’s’ have sponsored West Auckland Town AFC’s last league home game of the season. There will be a gate collection for the charity and all money raised added to this donation page. If you’re free and fancy cheering on Darrel’s local team kick off is 3pm. Thanks Julie xx - £356.46 collected on the day and 2 direct donations to the page £60.00 total raised £416.46

During 2024 one of Darrel’s running and walking friends Chris Grantham has set himself the challenge of doing a walk a month for this charity starting in January

🚨 🚨 Challenge 2024 🚨🚨

Just a quick update on next year challenge of walking 12 walks in 12 months in memory of my friend Darrel.

I have sorted which walks for which months, so here goes:

25th February

30th March

25th August

29th September

27th October

24th November

29th December

All of the walks will be a 10am start, I will be there 15 mins before hand to see you all, if you get lost.

In the middle of each month i will put up the sponsor page for leukaemia research, if you could please give your £5 that way instead of giving me it directly as it may be easier. Also if you could comment if you’d be coming as that will give me a fair idea who will be there.

A day or so before hand I will put up a route map for where we will be walking.

I Will also give you a brief insight in what the walk will involve: I.e car parking, ground conditions, hills, how far and most importantly coffee shops.

As you know this will be at everyone’s own risk but hopefully i will be looking forward to seeing you all for each walk. For lots of company and laughter.

Darrel-
A walker, cyclist and runner who loved the great outdoors as well as a snuggle on the sofa with his loved ones. He fought so hard to beat Leukaemia and never lost hope. A registered organ donor who was disappointed he couldn't be one in the end. He loved to plan and organise and left instructions to fundraise for this charity. £600 was raised at his funeral and friends and colleagues where he worked for 42 years raised £500. If you want to add to the total please do.
